Stress-Management

Stress management and stress-mindset profoundly influence both work performance and overall life satisfaction.

Yet, stress in itself carries neither a "negative" nor a "positive" connotation—it’s how we respond to a stressor that makes the difference.

We often judge stress as "negative" partly to make sense of our experiences, partly due to a lack of education, and largely because of the overwhelming narrative over the past 20 years that "stress is bad."

Of course, poorly managed stress can be extremely costly for corporations and very harmful to individuals. There is extensive evidence linking it to reduced productivity, dissatisfaction in life, mental health issues, and long-term autoimmune disorders.

Yet stress is inevitable as long as there is something that you care about. The key is not to avoid stress, rather to recognise the care beneath and to learn how to respond differently.

Stress-management coaching is built on four pillars/tenets:

  • Mindset: A priori stress is neither “good” nor “bad”, it is what we make of it that matters. The mindset drives the way we perceive and judge a particular stressor, whether as a "threat" or an "opportunity for growth." In coaching, we explore the clients’ beliefs that are at the core of one’s mindset. This helps clients to move from viewing stress as a “threat” to seeing it as an “opportunity for growth.”
  • Motivation: Stress is present when something we care about is at stake. What is it that matters to you in relation to the stressor? We explore the underlying needs, desires, and opportunities to learn, helping align your stress responses with your personal motivation and sense of agency.
  • Awareness of Arousal: Greater awareness leads to more choices (different ways to respond to the same stressor). We explore thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations related to a particular stressor. These form part of the tools, and helps you identify your own “window of stress-tolerance,” allowing you to set boundaries and use your body signals to guide decision-making.
  • Dimensions of Well-being: Life is not just about ticking off tasks; the process is at least equally important.  We explore how you experience this process, balancing productivity with rest. Rest is underrated yet essential to replenishing dopamine levels, to drive motivation and resilience. All the other well-being dimensions (e.g. sleep, nutrition, breathwork) are also explored, together with other stress-management tools. This is the bedrock of resilience.

I support the work with clinical diagnostics, HRV trackers, and psychometric tests, helping you gain a deeper understanding of your stress levels, resilience, work-life balance, and mindfulness. These tools allow us to create a personalised coaching plan, track progress, and ensure the coaching is tailored to your specific needs.

Comprehensive Approach: My coaching integrates cognitive, emotional, motivational, and physical well-being, addressing the whole person—mind and body. I focus on balancing the drive to achieve goals with an emphasis on valuing the process itself.

Structure / Format: 1:1 sessions, group/team coaching, and workshops.
